Bubble Play Pop
If summertime makes you think of baseball games and ice cream trucks, this frozen delight was the treat for you! The Bubble Play dessert was made of cherry ice cream in the shape of a baseball glove, planted on a pop stick, with a baseball gumball right in the center. Maybe it’s the combination of America’s favorite pastime and America’s favorite meal (dessert, of course) that made this cherry pop so popular on ice cream trucks. First appearing on trucks in the mid-1990s, the Bubble Play was an instant hit with fans of frozen treats. With cherry ice and a gumball in one treat, you could call this dessert a real double play. Baseball fans in search of a sweet and refreshing treat during baseball season were always in luck with this homerun dessert. So, what’s the catch? There is none! Unless you count the baseball gumball right in the middle of that frozen mitt. Play ball!
Does this frozen dessert conjure up sweet summer memories? Adults and kids alike flocked to the ice cream truck for a taste of the classic Bubble Play, but it was just too good to last.
